Powerful Hybrid Synth Engine

Korg designed a hybrid synth engine for the Electribe, offering maximum flexibility in sound creation. With 409 oscillator waveforms, including analogue modelling and PCM, producers can experiment with everything from basic waveforms to complex combinations such as dual, unison, sync, ring, and cross modulation.

The PCM engine supports rhythm sounds and multisamples, with contributions from Sample Magic, Loopmasters, and Prime Loops. Filters are derived from the KingKORG, providing authentic synthesizer tones used in popular tracks.

Easy Modulation and Sample Manipulation

Korg makes modulation intuitive and straightforward, giving you complete control over your sound design. You can pair sources like EG or LFO with targets such as Filter Cutoff or Oscillator Pitch, choosing from 72 modulation types. Adjust the speed and depth to shape your tone and create dynamic, expressive sounds with ease.

The EMX2-BL also excels in advanced sample manipulation. Its Time Slice feature automatically detects attacks within a phrase and slices them for flexible, tempo-adapted playback. Individual slices can be assigned to steps or parts, with real-time effects applied via the knobs, allowing pitch and modulation adjustments for ultimate creative freedom.

Comprehensive Effects and Groove Options

The EMX2-BL provides high-quality effects, including compression and overdrive, for individual parts. The groove function allows you to apply subtle timing variations to phrases, enhancing rhythm and feel across all genres.

Live Performance Features

Designed for stage use, the EMX2-BL offers master effects controlled via touch pad, including spatial effects and dramatic transformations like Vinyl Break, Seq Reverse, and Odd Stepper. Insert effects can be applied per part, providing deep sound design capabilities.

Additional performance tools include the pattern set function, which lets you switch sequences with a single pad, and event recording, which captures live manipulations.

The unit supports MIDI IN/OUT and Sync IN/OUT, enabling seamless integration with the Volca series, Monotribe, or MS-20 mini. Portable operation is possible with six AA batteries.

Integration with Ableton Live

Korg has partnered with Ableton to enhance the EMX2 workflow. Patterns and parts can be saved and exported in Ableton Live format, with individual elements stored as scenes and clips.

Users can leverage Live’s Session and Arrangement views to edit, arrange, and refine tracks or record new parts. Ableton Live Lite is included, offering a complete production environment for desktop and mobile setups.
